Clayton Perlman: Understanding Myelofibrosis

The late wife of Clayton Perlman suffered from Myelofibrosis. Myelofibrosis is a rare, chronic blood cancer that progresses over time. The disease disrupts your body’s normal ability to produce blood cells and causes extreme scarring in the bone marrow. This can lead to severe anemia, which results in weakness and fatigue.

The condition typically develops slowly. As the disruption of the normal production of blood cells increases, patients can begin to experience shortness of breath, fatigue, fever, bone pain, night sweats, easy bruising and bleeding, and pain or fullness below your ribs on the left side. Clayton Perlman stresses that if you experience these symptoms or persistent signs that worry you, you should make an appointment with your doctor.
